You should always try to do what you feel is right for your own body, but the best thing you can do to protect your baby is to give it a balanced diet. If you don’t have milk, you can always drink formula.
Breastfeeding is great, but it is the mother’s body that is the most important part of her life. If the mother is not making good milk, or she is making it so bad that she can’t suckle at all, then you need to find another way to suckle your baby.
