A long-handled spoon is a favorite tool because a plastic scraper can leave big ruts when it scrapes the surface, but an electric scraper can also leave a lot of surface left.
My biggest gripe with self-leveling concrete is that it takes a lot more time and effort to level it than it should. It’s also difficult to get it off and on the same day. It’s more time-consuming and more difficult than it should have to be. And since you can’t even get the concrete to dry with the proper tools, it takes more time to get it on the job site than it should have to.
So in all fairness, I will say that the concrete I have at my house is a bit too wet to be a self-leveling patch. But if I have a concrete project on the same project, I will work to make sure I level it properly in case it needs it. I will also work to make sure I take care of all of the details before I even think about a project.
