We’re all guilty of it. We’re all guilty of not washing our hands for instance, or not washing our hair or brushing our teeth. You, too, can feel self-conscious about this. We have a tendency to be overly concerned with the things that we see and hear about in the media, or the things we see and hear about in our friends. It’s human nature.
The problem is that the more we become self-aware, the less we feel self-conscious. The less self-awareness you have, the more that you may be able to “clean your plate”.
I’ve been reading about the self-cleansing effect of being aware of our habits for the past three years. It is now well known that even without awareness, you can take better care of your body. Being honest about it, about what you do and don’t do, will make you better to be around.
Self-awareness is often defined as having some awareness of who you are. This is a useful definition, but it is not sufficient to completely define self-awareness. Some people simply don’t have a sense of self, and thus dont know that there is a self. I don’t think that this is a real problem. People who have a full sense of self know that they are. They know that they want to be who they are, and that they are.

I think that it would be nice to think more and more specifically about what we are, and what we want to be. That way we can be more aware of what we want to be, and how we want to be.
