I have this one image in my head that I always have to get rid of. I am a woman who has no interest in lesbian sex. I just hate it that so many women are so interested in it. Of course, that’s a stereotype. Just another instance of people being misinformed about a subject.
This is a perfect example of how to be misunderstood by people who don’t get it. Being misunderstood means that you don’t know what you’re talking about. It doesn’t mean being misinterpreted as a bigoted, racist, or sexist person. That’s like being misunderstood by a person who doesn’t understand your meaning. People who misunderstand you can see through your bullshit. That’s why “misunderstanding” is also a good word to use to describe what you’re doing.
For someone who is so caught up in the details of a subject that they don’t understand what the original intent was, it can be easy to get misinterpreted. Especially if you are talking about a topic that you yourself are passionate about. For example, my friend will say that it’s “not a good idea” to be doing something that you are passionate about.
People who are in the habit of “reacting” to someone because they are “not that into them” can be quite frustrating. I used to try to help my friend understand that he wasn’t being that into her, but I could never get his head around it. Like he says, he wasn’t into her, so he’s not going to be into her.
For me, it has always been, “Oh, you like her? Then please stop being a dick.” But in that moment I realized he was being a dick. So I stopped being a dick.
