I did the same thing when my cat was sick and I had to feed her. I would write down what I had to do to keep her alive. That was much easier than trying to keep track of her eating, sleeping, and her poop.
Afro-fats are known to have a very high rate of mortality. They are also known to have been in the news recently for a number of other reasons, so it’s understandable that people would fear the idea of keeping an African tailed gecko alive in the wild. I don’t think it’s that difficult to do.
The first step is to clean the cage and change the food. Once the gecko has eaten, its time to remove the lid and clean the cage itself. Then feed it with an improved food. The next step is to get it to sleep and have it get used to the new food. Lastly, you have to remove the petting devices so it can go outside to the wild. That’s it.
Its not that difficult. The gecko will just go wild. Its just a matter of cleaning the cage and changing the food and taking care of it. You can have your pet gecko anywhere on your property.

The above is probably the most common mistake people make and that’s why I say this guy is a bit of a gold mine.
