I have two chickens, and I love that they come and take care of me without me even having to get up. That said, I am really enjoying taking care of my chickens in a different way. One of these days, I’ll be starting a new job in the fall, so my chickens don’t need me very much at all.

So we now know that one of mother’s many past loves was a chicken, and she’s been trying to make up for it with some of the best chickens in the land. It’s just the latest in a long line of hen-loving relationships, starting with an obsession with the chickens at her parents’ home, where she took up the hobby after spending the early part of her life growing up on a farm.
