The Domestic Abuse Survivors symbol is a symbol of the domestic abuse survivor, the person who was there at the beginning of a relationship with a perpetrator who later started abusing. I created this symbol as a reminder that not everyone is aware that they are still being abused and the possibility of abuse.

Domestic abuse is something that I find to be extremely hard to talk about for anyone that doesn’t know someone personally affected by abuse. I’ve seen friends and family members who have been treated inappropriately by someone they loved and were hurt so badly by their abuser that they’ve never felt the same way again. It would be hard to talk about this without having that experience in my head.
So far Ive seen no signs of domestic abuse in Deathloop. And the fact that the game seems to be so well-played and as polished as it is, it still has a few rough edges. But there is one big flaw. After the last couple of hours the game is so ridiculously polished that it seems like each and every part of Deathloop is on par with the rest.
The game has an extensive list of violent acts that the player can commit against their avatar. These are all “incidents,” and you can play them out until either the avatar or you die. The most infamous incident involves an avatar that has been repeatedly beaten by his partner while holding him down. This incident in particular is a bit unsettling.
Some people have been wondering if players should be able to kill their partners. While this is technically possible, is it really necessary? I personally would consider killing my partner to be a much, much worse type of abuse. If this type of abuse is happening to me and I’m not the aggressor, it’s not a big deal to kill my partner.
So while I agree with the idea that players should be able to kill their partners, I also don’t think I would like it very much. Asking my partner to stop beating me is a little excessive, and I don’t like the idea of my partner being stuck in a situation where I was just beaten so I could kill her. The idea that an avatar can just stop beating them is kind of lame.
