I’ve heard this talk about a million times, and I’ve never understood it. The “do your doctor notes hurt feelings” theory is one of those things that seems to be a common belief that keeps coming up without a lot of evidence to back it up. But a lot of the time when this happens, it is a complete misunderstanding of what is meant by “feeling”.
I think it is a clear misunderstanding of what is meant by feeling. It is a way to try and force your self-consciousness down to the surface and then see what happens. It can be a way to get comfortable with how you feel, or it can be a way to get yourself to stop feeling something you are already uncomfortable with. It is a way to try and work out your “feelings” with the idea that you will get the best results if you feel certain things.
I’ve got to admit, it’s a lot easier to stop thinking about your feelings when you are feeling comfortable with how you are feeling. It’s like when you stop thinking about a disease and just think it is going to be better. It’s the same idea, and it works because it is a way to stop feeling something in the moment that you are feeling it.
Its been said before, but its worth repeating: its easy to talk about your feelings when its comfortable with them, and its easy to stop if your comfortable with them.
Its like an internal “stop” button that is triggered when we are feeling something that makes us uncomfortable. Its like when you stop thinking of something that makes you uncomfortable, but you don’t want to stop thinking of it because you know you need to be thinking about it.
Like me, some people just feel uncomfortable when they feel something in the moment. I know this from experience, I have friends who have felt a little uncomfortable with their notes (as well as the discomfort when they have to write them in a hurry), and I know that some people who don’t have any discomfort when they write something down find it even more difficult to stop.
I think that feeling of discomfort should not be ignored. We should learn to recognize when we feel uncomfortable about something. We should be able to notice our discomfort, and then seek the comfort and support of someone else that feels the same way.
Most doctors I’ve talked to feel that writing down a patient’s medical history is a good idea. It allows them to keep track of a patient’s health and helps them to keep their patient in their care. But doctors I’ve talked to who are trying to write notes for themselves think that it’s a bad idea. I have also heard that putting a note on top of a stack of other notes that you never read is often more effective than simply writing a note on a piece of paper.
The only reason I can think of that puts a doctor on a more emotional level is that a doctor may have noticed that some patients don’t like to be reminded to take their medications, so they put a note on a prescription pad.
A note is a letter or note, and a prescription pad is nothing more than a pad for taking notes. As with most note taking, it’s best to take your time and write it down. And as with most everything else, you can always add your notes to your own personal file so that you can refer to them later.
