Why is hysterectomy still so taboo? Some say that women are still trying to be liberated enough to take a major life change. I believe this is a misnomer. In a way, the word “liberation” is a euphemism for “death.
In fact, it is very possible for a woman to become pregnant from a hysterectomy. I am sure you have read about the many women who have gone through a hysterectomy without ever knowing they were pregnant and ended up having children with another woman. I had one of those women. She had a hysterectomy shortly after giving up her baby, so she has a pretty long family tree.
I know it’s a shame that hysterectomies are so often performed without consent. In addition to the emotional trauma of a hysterectomy, it’s also a major life change. In a lot of cases, a hysterectomy will affect a woman’s ability to get pregnant. Some women choose to have a hysterectomy so they can have children to have their own biological children.

All I knew was that the transition would be rough and its not like I had even thought about it.
