The most important tip I can give you is to take care of yourself. It is better to be healthy and in good health than to be sick and in poor health. It is also better to be on a healthy diet and exercise than to be overweight and obese. Eating and exercising are all about balance.
I know it’s not fun to go through a period of time that you feel is absolutely insane, but take it easy and try to enjoy the moment.
The best way to take care of yourself is to be aware of your body. If you have a regular calendar, set it for a week every month so you are always aware of your body.
As well as being aware of your body, you need to know your heart and lungs. If you are very anxious, you may be getting too many stressful thoughts and making your body feel sick. Instead, try to keep things as calm as possible. Take a deep breath every once in a while.
Another tip: when you are nervous, think about doing what you would normally do when you are nervous, but with less adrenaline and higher oxygen levels. This is a good way for you to stay calm and relaxed.
The same goes for periods. There are many ways in which you can relax. If you find yourself going into panic mode, you can try to find a comfortable position in which you won’t be constantly moving, but rather you will stay still. You may also find that you can practice doing just a few things without thinking about anything else.
As we discuss in this podcast, there are many ways to calm down. You can do breathing exercises or even just sit in a chair and relax. You can play some soothing music or do something relaxing that doesn’t require any physical movement. In the past, it was common for young people to try to learn to relax by using a music software (such as Sibelius). Now, this has all changed. There are many ways to relax.
I think it is helpful to know that our bodies react to certain stimuli in different ways. We call them “stress” and “distress”. With stress we feel a release of energy in our body that is physically felt and can be measured as heartbeat or breathing rate. We can feel stress in our bodies for a long time. With distress we feel a lack of energy in our body that is physically felt and can be measured as pulse, movement, or breathing rate.

The same as stress and distress, we can feel pleasure and relaxation and a rush of energy and pleasure in our body. The feeling of pleasure is what we call desire. It’s more obvious than pleasure and can be measured in terms of the size of our pupils. Relaxation is what we call apathy. It’s more obvious than pleasure and can be measured by the depth of our breath.
