The first few weeks of a new routine are the hardest and the hardest part usually starts in the first few hours. This is also the part where the most stress is experienced, and in a lot of cases, the most pain and discomfort. A lot of the time, this pain is a result of the unknown. The first few weeks are when many new beginners feel the most insecure about what they are doing.
The stress that we feel, especially in the first few weeks of a new routine, is often a result of the unknown. It’s the unknown that causes us to question our own sanity and what we are doing.
The newbie’s are often the ones who complain, “I don’t know what to do, I’m always tired.” But what they don’t realize is that they don’t need to know what to do, at least not in the beginning. They have to figure this out along the way. We’re just starting out, and some of us are likely already confused about how to do the most basic things.
For those of you who are new to yoga or are starting a new routine, here’s a quick overview of the most basic things you can do.
In the beginning, you dont have to do anything to start yoga. Its just sitting there and doing it. But as you get more comfortable, you will probably find yourself needing to do so things.
First off, you dont have to do anything. Just sit down, close your eyes, and relax.
In fact, you shouldnt need to do anything at all. Most of us are quite comfortable with our own bodies. You just sit there and breathe. But for those of you who have been practicing for a while, you will probably find that the most basic things to do are a little harder, especially after you get more comfortable with the whole standing thing. Theres a few different positions that are easier than others, and a few that require you to move around more.
The most basic thing is to simply sit still. It is easy to sit, but it is not easy. Your arms and legs should be straight and your trunk should be straight, but your head should be tilted slightly to one side (and this point, your arms should be in a relaxed position as well). You should be able to keep your eyes closed and your mind off the floor.
As for the yoga, there are several variations, and the poses are meant to have you moving in a continuous motion. I think there are two main ones that I’m personally very interested in. One is the “Virginal Pose,” which is the most basic of all the poses. It is often used for meditation. The second is the “Forward Bend Pose,” which is more of a forward bend.
