Yeast is a bacterium that has been around for around 4 billion years. It plays an important role in the process of the body transforming food into usable energy. We are able to produce it in our gut, but if we are allergic to it, we are unable to do this.
If you have a yeast allergy, you should check with your doctor. It could be quite serious and require medical interventions.
Yeast allergy is an extremely common allergy, affecting around 1.5 percent of the population and is often undiagnosed in the medical community. Yeast allergy symptoms include headache, facial fullness, sore throat, cough, redness of the skin and throat, and swelling of the lips and tongue. These symptoms are usually worse at night.
Yeast allergy symptoms usually go away as the allergy resolves, but if they do, it’s important to let your doctor know. The good news is that many of the symptoms improve on their own once you go back to your normal diet and lifestyle. We just had a patient who had a yeast allergy diagnosed and prescribed antibiotics to treat it, and it completely resolved within a few days. If you have a yeast allergy, let your doctor know.
As the title of this post suggests, a yeast allergy can cause an allergic reaction. However, in this case, the reaction was to the yeast itself, not to the medicine. If you feel like you’re being allergic to your tongue, please let your doctor know. They’ll be able to prescribe an oral solution to loosen up the yeast that’s causing your allergy as well as monitor your progress.
Also, to be clear, these are not yeast-specific allergies. For example, you might be allergic to strawberries, but you can eat strawberries and they’ll still taste like strawberries. And if you’re allergic to your tongue, your tongue will still smell like strawberries. So if you’re allergic to your tongue, you can still eat strawberries.
If you have a yeast allergy you should do a thorough allergy test to make sure you’re not allergic to it. But instead of the allergy test, you should get the yeast allergy kit from your doctor, and check your symptoms first. You may be able to stop the allergies by changing your diet and taking a drug that’ll prevent itching. Or you might need to take over-the-counter antihistamines.
The problem here is that yeast allergies can be extremely challenging to treat. As a result, we often see people that have yeast allergies get into trouble because they don’t want to get any more serious. As a rule though, we recommend treating yeast allergy symptoms as soon as you know your symptoms exists.
Yeast allergy is one of those allergies that can be a life or death issue. A few minutes of exposure to this type of mold can be enough to start an allergic reaction. This can be a fun game that can help you overcome it. Just like having an allergic reaction to something fun, you can also take care of it just by changing the way you eat, the type of food you eat, and the way you sleep.
The good news is that there are a few ways to handle the yeast allergy in your body. The first is to avoid it completely. This is a bit of a tough move to make, but it’s not impossible. The other way to approach the allergy is to eat healthy foods that do not contain the mold like fruits, vegetables, and cereal. It’s also important to make sure your body is getting enough nutrients.
