This week’s puzzle was the self-involved crossword clue, “The level of self-awareness is the same as the level of conscious awareness”. I don’t know how this even could be possible, considering how self-aware I am. I don’t think I’ve been conscious of my thoughts or actions for about 30 years.
I know. Your conscious awareness of how you feel and what you’re doing isn’t exactly a self-aware state. You’re not aware of the fact that you’re eating, driving, or even breathing. We’re talking about the level of self awareness, not the level of conscious awareness.
In most cases you’re probably not even aware of the fact that you’re doing something. People who are highly conscious of their actions (or who’s actions they’re aware of) are the ones who have what we call “self-awareness”.
The difference between self-awareness and self-consciousness is that self-awareness is the awareness of your actions, while self-consciousness is the awareness of the thoughts you think and the feelings you think.
If you have self-awareness, then you can control your actions and thoughts, because you know how you feel and what you think. You can also control your decisions because you have the ability to reflect on your actions and think about the consequences. You don’t have to think about whether you’re making a good decision or not.
