I love this. This is a great way to care for and care for our cacti all winter long.
Christmas trees and cactus are usually two of the most common plants on this list, but this year is different because we’re not talking about cacti. Instead, it’s about overwatered christmas cactus. This is a very common problem for many plants in the desert. Plants that get too much water from the desert water table, or lack sufficient moisture, become prone to disease and die.
In most cases, overwatered cactus die from a combination of things: dry, or lack of nutrients in the soil, and water stress. You can read more about how overwatered cactus die in the article “Why Cacti Don’t Cope with High Desert Water.” But when it comes to overwatered christmas cactus this year, the article provides some good tips for overwatered cactus care.
In this case it’s a lack of nutrients in the soil, because the cacti are getting very little water. They’re basically running out of oxygen. The second major cause of overwatered cactus death is water stress. The third cause is dry, hot weather. For overwatered christmas cacti, dry, hot weather and lack of water stress can be fatal.
Cacti are an incredible little desert vegetable. But they can be very prone to overwatering. They can get pretty water-deprived when the sand gets too dry and windy, which is when they die. I know I have a hard time watering them, because I get them up during the hottest part of the day, and they get water only during the hottest part of the day.
You need to be careful with cactus, as they can be a real pain to water. One of the things that makes them water so well is the root system, which contains enzymes that help the cactus to produce new water. But the root system can be drying out and drying out. With a lot of water, they can become a bit dehydrated.
You can apply a slow-but-steady drip of water or you can apply water to the top part of the cactus. Watering a cactus this way prevents the root system from drying out, and it also allows the cactus to get more water.
Once you have a cactus you can also water them at the top of the stems. If you water them from the bottom, the whole plant won’t get enough water (to the root system) to make it grow, so you’ll have to wait until the plant is fully watered. This isn’t a complicated thing to do, but it’s difficult to know exactly how much water to put on before you apply it and when.
The cactus care method is the same as many other things we’ve covered on our blog, from pruning, to watering, to fertilizing. It’s just a matter of knowing when and how much can actually be done safely.
One of the best things about cacti is that they can get really really big. If you water them too much, they can get over-stressed and over-water, which can cause your cactus to die in a week or two. So if you water them in the correct amounts they can be extremely healthy.
