I had surgery to terminate a pregnancy in my late 30s. I had been married for almost 14 years when I found out I was pregnant with my second child. The surgery was not a good experience. I had to have a general anesthetic, and as soon as I started to feel the pain, I knew my life was over.
We can all remember the “good” part. Unfortunately, after being told about the surgery, I was so afraid that I went to the hospital to check on the result. I saw him in his hospital bed, and he didn’t look so good. He was pale and weak. I asked him about it, and he said it really wasn’t that bad. He had a minor operation to remove a tumor that was growing in his abdomen.
The next day, after being awake in the recovery room, Colt returned to work. He was so excited, he even ate breakfast and lunch with no problem. He was even wearing a tie.
As a result of the surgery he was put on a special diet. He also got a new pair of clothes, one that was tailored to fit his body shape. But he was still weak and pale. He told me that he was feeling just fine, but he had to rest up for a very long time. When he woke up, he was given a new pair of pants that fitted him better than the old ones.
It sounds like some of the other people in the recovery room were a little concerned with Colt’s new looks. He’s a little taller and thinner than before and the new pants didn’t fit him as well. I think that the surgery probably did some good too. The doctors weren’t sure at first if the anesthesia had been enough to stop his heart, but they didn’t want to make him go into a permanent coma just to make sure he was doing okay.
A little over a year ago we wrote about how the hysterectomy surgery performed by Dr. David Reilich was one of the top-performing hysterectomies at Northwestern University. While his procedure is no longer available at Northwestern, the results (and the good reviews) have led many to consider it one of the top-performing hysterectomies in the country.
We’re not saying that because of his good work with his prostate cancer surgery that he should just keep doing it. It may not be effective, but it would give him a better chance of living a long and happy life, which is something that most of us would greatly value.
Also, he was the first to actually get the surgery done, which is something that not many people do. What I like about his story is that it is not a “recovery” story. The guy was only 30 years old when he got the surgery, and he is now in his mid-fifties.
He received a laparoscopic myomectomy to remove his prostate gland. He also had his bladder and urethra removed during the surgery. Because of his good work with his prostate cancer surgery that he should just keep doing it, he is now back to work in his lab performing more prostate cancer surgeries.
Hysterectomy is no joke. It is a life-or-death situation, and can result in death. The surgery is a lot like chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Your cancer cells are removed. You don’t know if you will live, because no one ever knows. You also do not know what will happen to your family. You need to have faith, and hope, and faith is the best tool there is for survival. You can’t save yourself just because you have cancer.
