The vagina is a muscular organ with a tough outer layer that can easily be irritated by bacteria and other irritants.
The vagina is actually a muscle, but it is also a soft, rubbery area, which means that it is quite a bit weaker than the skin on the genital area. This is what actually causes soreness. The vaginal muscles are not very strong, and if you are constantly rubbing them you are probably damaging them and causing them to weaken. If you get a sore vagina it is not because you were rubbing your vagina, it is because you were rubbing your vagina too much.
