The best part about these journaling templates is that they are really easy to use. Just fill in a few words as you want your future self to say, then hit the “Write” button. The thing I like about these templates is that they get incredibly personal. They’re written with your past self in mind, so they’re really real.

There are tons of different ways that the future self can be a part of. I had a friend named Jim who told me a lot about this already. He told me about his first day on Deathloop, and then he told me about his first day on another island. It was the only way to get his perspective. He started journaling his future self.

Jim didn’t want to write about his future self because he assumed that his future self would only be interested in a fictional future self, and that his friend would only care about the “real” Jim. So he kept writing about the future self he’d been thinking about.

The point I’m trying to get across is that you don’t have to write about the future self you think about. You don’t have to go back and change what you’re writing about.
