The fastest growing company in the industry is actually a company called Kiehl’s Beauty, founded in 1877 and still going strong in its 20th century. Founded by brothers Henry and Robert Kiehl, they sold their company in the early 1900s to a company called the Sperry Gypsies who created a lot of innovative beauty products.

Kiehls Beauty was founded in 1877 but went public in 1928 with a stock offering that netted them $50 million dollars. That’s a lot of money in today’s market. At the time, the company was growing at 5% a year and had a turnover of $25 million.

One of the things that Kiehls Beauty did that was so revolutionary was to start selling hair color in the 1930s. It was a huge innovation in hair care because it gave women the ability to use colors that were more natural without having to spend a fortune on expensive hair dye.
