Ive been doing exercise for over a decade now and it has been completely effective in increasing my brainpower. Ive found that when I exercise my brain is not only stronger, but its more efficient too. For instance, I can use my brain in other ways that its not used to. For instance, I can learn new things very quickly. I can also think about other things that I wouldnt normally think about.
In a study published in the Journal of Neurological and Psychiatric Medicine, a group of young and middle-aged men and women who completed a 10-week physical activity program showed substantial improvements in cognitive function, memory and mood. This positive effect was seen even when the participants were not asked to do the exercise.
I have to agree with this. The results are consistent with what we know about exercise, namely that it can improve our mood and memory. But it also makes me wonder if this is just the start. Exercise can also help with our cognitive functions as well, such as learning new words.
