I thought I had the same gut feelings about belly size that I did about my eyesight. The difference between the two, at least for the first few weeks after having my baby, was a matter of sheer magnitude. To me, belly size didn’t really matter, because I was already big and my belly was going to be huge. After I was a little over two weeks pregnant, however, my belly started to get larger and I started to worry about it.
My belly started to grow because I had to be more careful with how I stretched. I had to stop and remind myself that I was in a maternity body. At the same time, I started to notice that my waist was getting big and my belly was getting smaller. To me, the difference between a pregnancy belly and a fat belly was that the belly was getting bigger. A pregnancy belly was just that, a belly.
Just because you have a baby doesn’t mean your waist is any smaller. You have to use your body for everything it can do.
I have a friend who used to be a breast cancer survivor. She was never fat, but she was always pregnant, and she always felt she was getting bigger. So I tried to use that to my advantage and say that it was normal for my belly to be getting bigger. I also tried to point out that I had only been pregnant a few months. So I was feeling the effects of a hormonal surge.
I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a little concerned right now. I’m pregnant. But I’m also looking forward to starting another round of my pregnancies. I’m getting really excited about carrying my son. I can’t wait to see his first baby pictures.
