What you’re about to read is not a book. It’s all from a lecture given by David Hume, who is better known for his work on empiricism and philosophy than his work on philosophy. The lectures are mostly about philosophy, but they’re also about Hume’s thoughts on matters such as religion and death.
This is a very long post, so I have a lot of love for this lecture. Its a bit long, but its sooo good.
Ive heard a lot of people say that Hume was a bit of a crank, but there are a lot of good things that he said about religion, death, and philosophy. He was a great thinker, and I hope that you read this because he influenced many who are still reading today.
If you want to be a philosopher, then you have to believe in things. This is true for people who are religious, and it is true for people who are trying to be philosophers. I have seen philosophers in my day that were not religious, philosophers who were not even very clear on what they were doing, and so on. For people like me who are trying to be philosophers, it helps to know what kind of things you are talking about or thinking about in the first place.
I feel like if you talk about being a philosopher, then you are most likely talking about what you do, and what you do about.
A philosopher is someone who studies and teaches about whatever particular type of philosophy they are having. Most people tend to think of philosophers as people who are religious, but that is not the case. A philosopher is someone who studies the philosophy of religion. I guess this kind of thing is like the difference between an acrophile and a philo-phob. The definition of “philosopher” is vague at best, but a philosopher is someone who studies religion.
