aunt in japanese

I don’t know why I never noticed it before, but I have heard in japanese that “aunt” refers to the male counterpart of “aunt” as a female can only refer to a male. Aunt means the opposite of an aunt, and Aunt means something in the opposite direction of what Aunt means, so that is how I’ve always thought of aunt.
